Five Generations, One Family Trade
Tree work has been part of our family for five generations, with knowledge and experience passed down from father to son. Today, JRT Tree Care continues that tradition, providing professional and reliable tree care across Surrey, Kent and surrounding areas.
The Story of
“Cherry” & “Pip”
Our family’s history in tree work goes back to my great-grandfather. He spent his working life around trees and became known as “Cherry” because, while working on fruiting cherry trees, he was known for helping himself to the cherries as he worked.
When his son—my grandfather—was old enough to follow him into the trade, he soon picked up a nickname of his own: “Cherry Pip”. His father was Cherry, so naturally his son became the pip from the cherry. Over the years, “Cherry Pip” was shortened simply to “Pip”, the name everyone came to know him by.
Passing Down the Trade
My grandfather, Pip, passed his knowledge of tree work down to my father, just as it had been passed down to him. My dad has now spent almost 40 years in the trade, carrying on the skills, experience and standards he learned from the generations before him.
My brother and I followed the same path, both starting young and building around 20 years of experience of our own. Today, the tradition continues with my 19-year-old son, who is now learning the trade alongside us.
Having several generations of our family working together means tree work is more than just a job to us. It’s a family trade built on knowledge, experience and skills that have been handed down through generations.
The Family Behind JRT Tree Care
Today, JRT Tree Care is very much a family business. I work alongside my father and brother, combining decades of hands-on experience, while my son represents the next generation learning the trade.
Between us, we bring knowledge that hasn’t just been learned from books — it has been passed down through our family and developed through years of working with trees every day.
We take pride in doing things properly, treating every property with respect and giving our customers straightforward, reliable advice. Whether it’s careful pruning, hedge maintenance or a difficult tree removal, we approach every job with the same care and attention we would give our own property.
Tree Care You Can Trust
For us, tree work isn’t simply a business — it’s a trade our family has taken pride in for generations. We bring that same pride to every job we undertake, combining traditional knowledge with modern tree care to provide a professional, reliable service.
From our family to yours,
you can trust JRT Tree Care to look after your trees and property with care.
